Katie is a former journalist and has worked in editorial, analytics, and management for more than 25 years. She led team-driven strategies at major consumer-facing companies including Netflix, BuzzFeed, and Warner Bros. She specializes in data-driven AI application and communications. She is an active executive committee volunteer with the Sierra Club.

Marcie is an operations specialist and has worked in education for 15 years. She previously led international student administration for the University of Missouri–Kansas City and served as an international student advisor for the University of Central Missouri.

Professor Michael H. Hoeflich

Professor Michael H. Hoeflich

Legal ethics and professional responsibility

Michael is the John H. & John M. Kane Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Kansas School of Law and a leading scholar in legal ethics and professional responsibility. A legal historian with deep expertise in the evolution of lawyers' ethical duties, he brings historical and comparative insight to questions surrounding artificial intelligence, professional judgment, and the responsible use of emerging technologies in legal practice.

He earned his J.D. from Yale Law School and his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, and has served as dean of the Syracuse University College of Law and the University of Kansas School of Law. He has authored or edited more than 115 books and published 110+ articles examining legal ethics, legal culture, and the professional obligations of lawyers.

Clay Johnson

Clay Johnson

Insurance regulation and compliance

Clay serves as Assistant Commissioner at the Kansas Department of Insurance. He began work as an attorney for the Kansas Department of Insurance and the Securities Commissioner of Kansas in 2016. Before that, he worked in private practice for 18 years in complex commercial litigation and employee benefits law, after beginning his career as a law clerk for Hon. Frederick J. Scullin, Jr. (N.D.N.Y.) and Hon. Deanell Reece Tacha (10th Cir.). He resides in Lawrence, Kansas with his wife, Renae, their children, two dogs, and one rabbit.
